Kathwari of Kashmir has a unique high-end collection of handmade rugs, kilims, antique tribal carpets and crewel furnishings that present the artist's vision in a rich variety of texture and theme. Known for his skill in integrating diverse elements of design, Tariq Kathwari's products defined his fine sense of color and style.

The company was established in 1980 to supply handmade furnishings in both silk and wool for designers and decorator trade. We began mixing traditional weaves with contemporary patterns and went on to produce exquisite collections of handmade rugs, fabrics, carpets and Kashmiri pashmina shawls.

Over the years, the company has grown through innovation and design, and supplied its products to stores like Bloomingdales, Saxony Carpet, and Stark in America; Galleria Lafayette in Paris; Corte Ingeles in Spain; Bijenkorf in Holland; and Stockmann in Finland, to name a few.

Kathwari of Kashmir  provides you with an exotic pallet of colors to choose from.

All our products are hand-made in Kashmir, unless otherwise stated. They're woven from the finest silk and cotton fabrics, and are priced with the creation time, quality and design in mind.

Although our products are either pure wool or pure silk, no animals are killed in the making of these products. We make sure our wool is spun from sheep that have already shed their kind furs and are treated ethically, and fed well! (That's important to us).

Owner and Designer M. Tariq Kathwari

Social Responsibility

Kathwari of Kashmir works personally with Kashmiri artisans to get the purest

and finest in Kashmiri carpets and handicrafts. Kashmir is a region of India

that has thrived off its handicrafts business. For decades the artisans have

handmade carpets, rugs, and shawls with the typical embroidery native

to the region.

It is said that the handicraft business makes up much of the economy,

but it's also a business that struggles to maintain its wealth through trivial

situations Kashmir has endured throughout the years.

We develop our designs and collections by partnering and involving the

struggling artisans in our work.

We enhance them and empower them to develop our design on carpets, and

trade the finest cotton, wool, and silk fabrics.

We work with disadvantaged artisans and strive to improve their economic

standing by enhancing them to be self-sustainable in their trade.

  Empowering and Enhancing Artisans

We are committed to selling products made from Fair Trade principles and we do are best to make sure our products are all ethically and responsibly made.
